ROMANTIC ENCOUNTERS (watch here) is an award-winning Web series recognized for “outstanding achievement” in both writing and acting at LA Web Fest, an IndieWire Critic’s Pick, and an LA Weekly Web Award nominee for “Best Comedy Series.” It was selected as a finalist in the 2014 “Make Em Laff” competition sponsored by Funny or Die and Los Angeles Film Festival. It’s one of the only web series ever acquired for foreign distribution in France, dubbed in French and airing on France TV. The show chronicles a series of botched attempts at landing a soulmate based on the stand up of Melinda Hill.
Funded by a Kickstarter before Meetinghouse Productions came on board, the series is created, written, produced by and starring Melinda Hill and co-produced and directed by Adam Scott Franklin. It features comedians TJ Miller, Dana Gould, Kirk Fox, Bryan Callen, Carlos Alazraqui, Drew Droege, Maurice LaMarche, Martin Olson and Steve Little. The Examiner says, “Hill and Franklin are known for making webisodes that look and feel like mini Woody Allen or Judd Apatow movies and are like Louis CK in that they wear all the hats from writing and shooting to editing comedy that is subtle, smart, absurd and at times sad. You know, like life.”
